This is sublime. I saw your video on the art industry and art education and personally very much agree. Art is art, and this is certainly a wonderful piece of work. While watching you make it, I was very much reminded of Bob Ross, where when you put the black down, I immediately thought Oh no! but then you made it amazing. I'm always fascinated by people who can do that. I get really hung up on details and not the big picture.

I mean, I can clearly see improvement. Look at their previous pieces. This one is so faerie-like, so peaceful. To obtain an ambiance like this one, they did really improve a lot. So I wonder how much they did. Did they practice on this particular kind of style?

Hallo,

ich schreibe mal auf Deutsch weil ich gerade wenig Zeit habe und das theoretische doch auf Englisch ein bisschen anstrengend ist :) Eigentlich wollte ich ja nur mal ein bisschen sehen wie du das Bild technisch angegangen bist, aber deine Auseinandersetzung mit dem Fach Kunst hat doch dazu geführt dass ich was Ermutigendes sagen muss: Als Geisteswissenschaftlerin würde ich dich knuddeln, weil du so kritisch mit deinem Fach umgehst - wir müssen viele Studis immer dazu zwingen nicht das zu schreiben und zu denken was man ihnen vorbetet :).

Du schreibst dass du Kunstlehrer werden willst - ehrlich gesagt, die meisten Schüler die wirklich "was mit Kunst" machen wollen, werden eher in die Industrie und nicht in die Galerie gucken. Es war für mich als Schülerin extrem frustrierend eine Lehrerin im LK zu haben, die mir nicht mit der Technik weiterhelfen wollte - weil sie einen sehr kunstakademischen Ansatz hatte. Eine Illustration war immer Kunsthandwerk, und wurde mit hochgezogener Augenbraue goutiert. Ich hätte mich gefreut, wenn sie mehr wie du gewesen wärst :) Ich habe aber auch gemerkt dass viele Kunstlehrer ganz anders ticken und es anscheinend gar nicht drum geht Techniken zu vermitteln. Aber was ist Kunst in der Schule dann - Beschäftigungstherapie damit der Schüler besser MINT Fächer lernen kann? Kunstgeschichtsunterricht mit einem Praxisanteil? Doch Vorbereitung auf die Kunstakademie???

Ich glaube in der Kunstgeschichte lösen sich die Leute, die man im Deutschen Künstler nennt so pi mal Daumen mit den Impressionisten von denen ab, die man heute Illustratoren nennen würde (verzeih mir meine Unschärfe, das Abi ist 15 Jahre her). Damals war es neu und unglaublich frech, nicht mehr "schön" zu malen und zu illustrieren (ja, vorher gab es auch schon Innovatoren, aber eben nicht so drastische - oder sie haben sich nicht gehalten :)). Ich habe ja den Verdacht, dass Kunst zu Kunst erklärt wurde, weil es Menschen gab die drastisch mit Konventionen gebrochen haben - vielleicht habe ich aber auch den Kunstbegriff falsch verstanden. Und heute? Noch mehr Konventionen brechen? Noch ekeliger werden, noch provokativer arbeiten um sich ja keinem Markt anzubiedern (damit man dann für den Kunstmarkt attraktiv ist? ZirkelschlussAlarm!)? Das ist ja dann auch kein eigener Weg mehr - weil heute schon so viele Möglichkeiten zur Provokation und zum Regelverstoß abgegrast sind, ist es schwierig für Künstler sich in der Steppe einen eigenen Weg zu trampeln :) Eigentlich ist es aus der Sich fast schon ein bisschen ironisch zu sehen, wenn es Gegenwind hagelt weil du nicht in das Schema passt. Vielleicht habe ich aber auch irgendwas falsch verstanden...Ähm ja..oh Gott, ist der Beitrag lang geworden. Ich hoffe er macht irgendwie Sinn, entschuldige mich für diesen riesen Haufen Text den ich dir hinterlassen habe und bin immer noch in diskussionsfreudiger Stimmung :)

BTW: und das Bild ist schön - wie schaffst du es so viele Farbschichten aufeinanderzustapeln ohne versumpfte Farben zu bekommen?
